Gout Revisited, developed by Area 23, reinterprets historical depictions of gout to challenge outdated perceptions of the disease. By bridging classical imagery with a contemporary perspective, the project brings renewed attention to its relevance today.
Brazilian artist Leo Teixeira reinterpreted the illustrations from “The Gout” (1799), by James Gillray, updating them with contemporary scientific insights to help challenge these misconceptions.
